#1991 CHEVY TRUCK S 10 BENCH SEAT MANUAL#
You must read your carseat and vehicle owner’s manual and understand any relevant state laws. Getting a copy of the owner's manual is always a good idea (we found our vehicle's manual on ebay - not very expensive either)
#1991 CHEVY TRUCK S 10 BENCH SEAT INSTALL#
We did install a tether anchor (for FF carseats) in the back wall of the cab - had quite a runaround with the dealer, before they acknowledged there actually was such a part, and that they could order one for us (free) - we did the installation ourselves.ĮTA: I don't know anything about the 'mini seat belt' you see. Honestly, if I had to transport children frequently in such a vehicle, I would go for the best most protective carseat I could get, in hopes of increasing safety a bit. Other carseats might sit more securely, but I haven't tried our other seats RF in the truck. tip over backward too far) in a frontal crash accident, even though the carseat was quite tight at the belt path.

I did notice that the one seat I installed RF (an Alpha Omega without its base) did not feel very secure - because the vehicle seat cushion was so soft, it felt as though the seat might easily over-rotate (i.e. I have installed carseats in the truck from time to time, both RF and FF. Overall though, we consider our '92 truck to be a fairly unsafe vehicle in terms of accident performance (I believe crash tests support this view), and we don't drive either ourselves or our children in it on public roads very often. We do have the manual for our truck, but we purchased the manual separately later, and I don't remember going over it to see if it addressed the issue of the folding backrest. I can't help thinking the backrest might be an additional hazard to all passengers in the vehicle, but it clearly is not intended to just flop around in an accident.

I don't know how well this mechanism works in an actual accident. We were puzzled as to how this could be safe in an accident, so we tried doing some abrupt stops on our driveway, and the backrest locks up when you deccelerate quickly. We have a '92 Chevy pickup, and noticed this same issue (backrest freely folding down) when we first bought it.
